FIND THE RIGHT ROD FOR YOUR BAITS

While All Custom Angle Rods are very versatile, it is always better to find the right tool for the job. Here are some recommended fishing rods for specified techniques: *note Moby Bass Series Pro Models are built with a faster tip while Moby Bass Series are built with a moderate tip. A general rule of thumb is: Use a slower tip or lighter action rod for moving baits like crankbaits and topwaters and a faster tip or heavier action rod for slower moving baits such as jigs and worms.

ROD ACTIONS

Do my rods have fast tip or slow tip? Custom Angle Rods

An age old question asked by many fisherman! The rule of thumb is the quicker a rod straightens out from the tip towards the butt the “FASTER” the tip. The longer it takes to straighten out the “SLOWER the tip.”

The power or action of a rod is determined by the design of the first 2/3rds (from the handle to towards the tip).

Many rod companies are now using a power rating for their rods. This replaces the action rating of the past. Fly rod manufactures have used the power rating for a number of years. The power rating varies from manufacture to manufacture. The rating values could be 1-6, or 1-8, etc.
Custom Angle Rods still uses the action rating: Medium, Medium/Heavy, Heavy & Extra Heavy.

REVERSE WRAP ADVANTAGE

All Custom Angle Rod products feature the superior action and performance of the reverse wrap on all casting products. Custom Angle Rods did not invent the reverse wrap, we have perfected it. The Reverse wrap, sometimes referred to as the spiral wrap, Robert's wrap, acid wrap or Missouri wrap has been used by rod crafters for quite some time. The Reverse Wrap is the method of wrapping a rod by placing the majority of the guides on the bottom of the casting blank. It is believed to have been introduced around 1909.

Normally, the first few guides are off set to one side of the blank. These eyes are referred to as stripper guides. They direct the line from the reel on top of the rod to the guides located on the bottom of the blank. Custom Angle Rods uses two stripper guides placed on the right side of the blank for right handed reels. (Note* Fisherman who use a left handed reel should choose the online option for lefties, or special order from your nearest dealer.) The remaining guides are set on the bottom of the rod blank. The tip is aligned with the ring down matching the guides.

The advantage

The line on all conventional rods (rods with guides on top of the blank), under load will slip to either the right or left side of the blank at the bend. This forces the guides over to the side and results in torque at the reel and your wrist.

Custom Angle Rods Reverse Wrap

When a fish changes direction the fisherman instinctively reacts in the opposite direction. This forces the line to cross over the blank at the bend. This action produces heat and eventually the rod and/or line will fail at the point where the line contacts the blank.

A reversed wrapped rod has no torque at the reel. Since the guides are already on the bottom the load is straight down. The line never touches the blank and there is no cross over point.

The reverse wrap has the unique ability to transmit the energy and vibration with such an impact that there is no Question. You just got bit, SET THE HOOK!!!
